When the the World Trade Centre was first attacked in 1993, a safety deficiency in skyscrapers was exposed. People were unable to find their way through the chaos. The building's directional signage could not be seen and what happened that day demonstrated just how important it is for people to find their way in an emergency.
Safeglo President and CEO Frank Meawasige realized that there had to be a better way. What if the power went out? What if there was smoke or other obstructions to vision? What if backup generators fail? What would people do? It was the desire to find safety solutions from which Safeglo Luminous Systems was born.
After years of development, in 1997 our first emergency egress lighting system was installed in the First Canadian Place and still shines brightly to this day. Since then we have worked with a multitude of development firms, property management companies and Life Safety Managers for some of Canada's largest commercial buildings. The product is simple yet innovative. Each and every sign glows in the dark, spending each hour of the day charging from the lights already on in a building. In the event that the lights go out, or another obstruction occurs, the signs will begin to light the path to safety and glow brightly for up to 36 hours thereafter. Our emergency lighting systems require zero energy consumption, zero maintenance and are custom designed to enhance the interior of any building. We are dedicated to helping light the way to a brighter, greener and safer future.

Our Experience & Portfolio
We have outfitted several of the largest buildings in Canada, including the tallest commercial building in the country: First Canadian Place. We have also worked with universities like Ryerson, outfitting student residences with emergency signage. There is no job, big or small, that we cannot take on.
